My Story

I was born and raised in the bay area of California. Through middle and high school I participated in lots of sports, though I was particularly successful in cross country and track. I graduated as the valendictorian of my high school class in 2003 and then moved to Claremont, CA to attend Harve Mudd College (HMC).

In college, I continued to run cross country and track and chose to major in mathematics with a strong emphasis in computer science and economics. HMC was a great experience. I was surrounded by brilliant people from five different college campuses whose backgrounds and experiences were wide-ranging. I also got my start as a private tutor helping high school and college students in a variety of subjects. Additionally, I worked at the Center of Talented Youth for several summers to teach classes in cryptology and advanced mathematics. I graduated from HMC with honors in 2007 and immediately moved to Salt Lake City to attend graduate school at the University of Utah.

While living in Utah I have diversified my life by trying out as many new things as possible. En route to completing my PhD in mathematics, I have privately tutored hundreds of students, taught several math classes at the University of Utah, started my own tutoring company, explored most national and state parks in our region of the country, skiied at every resort in Utah, worked as a model, worked as an assistant coach for a local high school track team, run in lots of races from 5K's to marathons, and traveled to many cool places in the US and world!

I love living in Utah, it has been a great experience spending my adult life here. These days my big passions are teaching, the process of running a business, and being in the great outdoors. I am grateful I have the opportunity to enjoy all of them on a regular basis here in Utah.
